Mountain Emergency Radio Network
The Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley, together with the neighboring regions of Haute-Savoie (F) and Valais (CH), has established a cross-border radio network for mountain emergency calls through an Interreg project: the EMERGENCY Radio Channel (Channel E).
This channel covers almost the entire mountain territory of the three regions, using a common frequency of 161.300 MHz. This frequency allows for sending emergency requests, which can be received by the Operational Centers in Annecy (F), Chamonix (F), Sierre (CH), and the Single Emergency Center in Saint-Christophe (I). The emergency will be managed by the relevant emergency center for the territory, with the receiving centers connected to each other to coordinate rescue operations.

Users of Channel E
The Emergency Channel (Channel E) is intended for a wide range of users who operate and frequent mountainous areas. These include:
- Mountain professionals: mountain guides, rescuers, and other experts who operate daily in mountain environments.
- Ski slope managers: maintenance and safety personnel who must be ready to intervene in case of accidents.
- Mountaineers, hikers, and skiers: outdoor sports and activity enthusiasts who, finding themselves in isolated areas, may require rapid assistance in an emergency.

Procedure for Programming Channel E
To use the Emergency Channel (Channel E), a specific programming procedure must be followed:

- Subsequently, you need to complete the forms and request the identification code (5-tone selective calling).
